Does Linux support NTFS or FAT32 file systems?
Linux does have support for both (and FAT32 is commonly used for USB thumb drives), but neither is often used for the main file system. On my own Linux systems, the root filesystem is ext4. Both NTFS and FAT32 filesystems are proprietary filesystems provided by Microsoft.
What Linux distro can I install on a FAT32?
There are some linux distributions that will install on Fat32. I believe that Dragon Linux was one of them (currently dead, according to their website). Fedora generally wants ext3 or reiserFS, like the others are saying. You will be able to format with any of the Linux options given to you with Fedora.
Why does Linux use NTFS instead of ext4?
Linux has better support for NTFS than Windows does for EXT4, and neither operating system can use the “foreign” file system as primary file system, since the systems use different security and permissions models.
